Russia’s Yandex hears no criticism from Georgia about taxi service
MOSCOW, Aug 31 (PRIME) -- Russian Internet giant Yandex has seen no criticism of online taxi hailing service, Yandex.Taxi, which started working in Georgia on August 24, a spokesperson for the service said Wednesday.
“In Tbilisi we are successfully cooperating with 11 local taxi fleets, we have received no criticism from state or municipal authorities,” the spokesperson said.
The service also works in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Turkey.
“For each of these countries we tailor services so that they would tackle local tasks and correspond to the world around our users,” the spokesperson said.
Yandex.Taxi is the first and so far the only service of Yandex in Georgia. “It respects all the laws of this country. It’s fully localized: the Web site’s interface, applications, taximeters are available in Georgian, and maps inside the service for users from Georgia correspond to the country’s official position regarding state borders,” the spokesperson said.
Local users earlier complained in social networks that Georgian breakaway territories Abkhazia and South Ossetia were marked as separate states.
